The Patchwork Players presents "By the Pound" an original stage play written and directed by Rachel Einglett Elliott and Jack Bagley at Briton Little Theatre at the DHA Community Life Center in Pine Mountain. Proceeds will benefit the Humane Society of Harris County. Show times are 7:30 p.m. Nov. 1, 3, 9, and 10 and 2:30 pm. Nov. 4 and 11. “By The Pound” tells the story of Walter MacDonald, a curmudgeonly widower who says he doesn’t need other people. But when he finds himself in a strange place where dogs and cats adopt people, Walter begins to find out that he does indeed need others.
Elliott and Bagley wrote the play as a fundraising effort for the Humane Society of Harris County. In addition to the performance, each evening will feature a silent auction which will also raise funds for the Humane Society. Members of the cast include Elliott, Bagley, Lorraine Berry of Pine Mountain, Lu Smith of Pine Mountain Valley, Jalen Smith of LaGrange, Gavi Coppers of Pine Mountain, Ginny Coppers of Pine Mountain, Marty Hagood of Lanett, Alabama, D. J. Dickerson of Fort Benning, and Brenda Steele of Columbus.
