Columbus celebrates World Tai Chi Day 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 27 in front of the waterfall at the Whisperwood Athletic Club, 6029 Flatrock Road. It's free to attend and families are encouraged.
Forty students and teachers of Tai Chi and Qigong from the Columbus area will give demonstration of the traditional Chinese exercise form. Participants will include the Tai Chi class from the DA Turner YMCA, one class will perform a Tai Chi Sword routine and an instructor will demonstrate the Tai Chi form recommended by the Arthritis Association. The medical community recommends Tai Chi to improve mobility and balance and to slow the aging process. In addition the Mayo Clinic has found the practice helps relieve tension. It has been called “meditation in motion.”
