Good news for fans of the 1995 comedy "Friday" -- there's still hope for a sequel.
"It's definitely always a possibility," comedian Chris Tucker, who starred with Ice Cube in the film, said in a recent phone interview.
Fittingly, Tucker will bring his comedy act to Columbus on a Friday. He performs Sept. 20 at the Columbus Civic Center. The show starts at 8 p.m. and tickets are $42 and $58. Call 706-653-4460.
Tucker, who hails from the Atlanta area, said he's relatively familiar with Columbus. "I grew up hearing about Columbus, Ga., a lot," he said.
The local show is part of his world tour. "It's going great. The connection to my fans is great," Tucker said of the tour.
During the tour, he's had experiences like being offered kangaroo meat in Australia. Tucker said he adjusts his material to some extent based on where he's performing. "If I'm down South, I talk about Southern things," he said.
Tucker starred in "Silver Linings Playbook," a 2012 romantic comedy/drama that received multiple Academy Award nominations. He played the best friend of the male lead character, played by Bradley Cooper.
"Once I got into the character, it was a lot of fun," Tucker said of his "Silver Linings" role.
Then, there's Tucker's other major claim to fame in the movie world -- the "Rush Hour" films, an action-comedy series in which he pairs with martial artist Jackie Chan.
They've starred in three "Rush Hour" films together. What's the status of a possible fourth?
"We're working on doing another one," Tucker said, adding that "Rush Hour 4" is in its "early, early stage."
