Military History Exhibition
The Columbus Museum presents the exhibition “From Flying Aces to Army Boots: World War 1 and the Chattahoochee Valley” which explores the effects of WWI in the Chattahoochee Valley. Beyond military history, the exhibition will look at the social and political climate in the region during the first years of war, 1914-1917, and changes to the home front during 1917-1918, alongside the local opinion of President Woodrow Wilson and the Treaty of Versailles. NIM Kids Free Summer Film Fest
The National Infantry Museum Kids is hosting the 2017 NIM Kids Film Fest with a showing of “Finding Nemo” and “Finding Dory”; The film is free to the public and offered twice a day at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Admission is on a first come-first seated basis. Concessions will open prior to the first showing. Specials will be available, including a Snack Pack for $5.

Chattahoochee Challenge Kids Fun Run
Offers youth ages 3 to 13 the opportunity to feel the excitement of the weekend’s competition while enjoying the outdoors and promoting healthy living. Distances include 1/4 mile, 1/2 mile and 1 mile out and back on the Columbus Riverwalk. Each athlete will receive a finishers medal, goodie bag and bib number. The race will begin at 6 p.m. Woodruff Park in Uptown. Packet pick up and onsite registration will be 4-5:30 p.m. that day. Cost is $20 per participant. Proceeds benefit the TriColumbus GA foundation in Columbus.
Chattahoochee Challenge Sprint Triathlon and Duathlon
Perfect race for beginners. This 500 meter event starts at 7:30 a.m. with a time trial start down a water slide into the river in depths no greater than 6 feet. Not a fan of swimming? Join the floatie division and float your way down the river. Duathletes start with a one-mile run. The 12-mile bike route is flat and travels through historic Columbus. Finish with a 5K run and a water slide to the finish line. There will be family-friendly activities throughout Uptown Columbus, along with bouncy castles and an open market. The Rusty Nail has invited Scumbugs to cruise in to their new location at 7550 Veterans Parkway, the Old Marvins Market building (across from Stars and Stripes Bowling). Scumbugs is an old school Volkswagen society that loves everything about old classic Aircooled VW’s. There will be live music, an outdoor flea market and food vendors.
