Concerts, food festivals highlight Uptown's fall event series
The 2015 fall event series for Uptown Columbus Inc. brings back the annual concert series, food and beverage festivals and a few new events.
Uptown will kick off its free fall concert series Sept. 18 with Grapevine playing on the Broadway stage. The concerts will run every Friday until Oct. 23, ending with Radiolucent.
If good food and drinks are what you're looking for, there will be a few events that you won't want to miss.
The Beer & Wine Festival on Sept. 26 is a local favorite. The Blues, Brew & Q also returns for a second year on Oct. 17 with a cook-off, cold beverages and a long list of blues acts.
New to the fall series is Uptown's Food Truck Festival, which will feature a wide variety of food on Nov. 14.
Other highlights include the new Live Healthy in Columbus Day on Sept. 19 where there will be health screenings and fitness classes, Young Professional's Screen on the Green on Sept. 24, the Spooktacular & PAWrade on Oct. 31 and the Broadway tree lighting along with the new Uptown Tree Trail on Dec. 5.
Uptown Columbus Inc. President Richard Bishop said Friday his organization, which has been hosting mostly free events for several years now, is prepared for a busy fall.
"There's no question in my mind that what's being created down here is the destination for everybody in this community and this region to come and get the best local owned and operated businesses, whether they be food or retail," Bishop said.
