Two locals track and field athletes place second at state

ALBANY, Ga. — Two local track athletes finished second in the GHSA girls state meet on Friday.

Hardaway’s Veronica Bryant came in as the runner-up in the Class AAAA high jump with a leap of 5-feet, 4-inches.

Carver’s Monae Tillman was runner-up in the AAA triple jump with a distance of 37-3.

Shaw had a pair of performers finish in the top eight in the AAA meet. Misha Aldridge was third in the shot put at 37-8. Markeisha Williamson was eighth in the pole vault at 8-0.

In the AA long jump, Jordan’s Lanequa Borders finished fourth in the long jump at 17-6.

On Thursday, Columbus’ Jessica Ridley came in fifth in the AAA 1,600 with a time of 5 minutes, 21.22 seconds. Brookstone’s Jennifer Page was fifth in the A 1,600 in 5:37.
