MONROE, Ga. — Calvary Christian’s bid for a second straight state volleyball title ended just short Saturday.
The Lady Knights lost 20-25, 25-18, 28-26, 25-22 to Pinecrest Academy in the Georgia Independent School Association championship match. Earlier in the day, they won their semifinal against Young American Christian 25-21, 23-25, 25-10, 25-9.
Calvary coach Chris Akers said he is proud of his players’ effort, especially because Pinecrest had swept two matches from them during the regular season when one of their outside hitters was sidelined.
“They played with reckless abandon, gave everything they had,” he said. “We had every chance chance to win that match, but we just didn’t get the breaks we needed.”
