Three agencies are moving permanently into Building 70. Donovan Research Library, the Directorate of Resource Management and Capabilities Development and Integration Directorate will change location in November.
The 145,000-square-foot, four-story building cost almost $26 million and includes 23 conference rooms, two elevators, and a high efficiency and fully automated HVAC system.
CDID and the library will move on Monday and Nov. 15, respectively. Both were originally located in Building 4 and displaced with the renovation.
DRM will move to Building 70 on Nov. 28 from their current location in Building 85 due to an increase in growth, said Carol Dycus, director of DRM.
While the library will take up most of the first floor, CDID and DRM will take up the rest of the building.
Dycus said two DRM offices will be located on the first floor: cost analysis and manpower.
Sherrie Floyd of the Donovan Research Library said there will be changes for patrons of the library until it moves and reopens.
At the moment, the library’s reopening date — once the move is complete — has yet to be determined, she said.
“(Until the reopening) students will have limited access to materials,” Floyd said. “So it’s a good idea for them to select the materials that they want to use for battle analysis or any other research papers due before Christmas — get that information checked out and researched.”
Floyd said the library’s virtual library will still be available and has resources such as digital objects, historical documents, student papers, bibliographies and online catalogues. The virtual library can be found at www.benning.army.mil/library.
Patrons can also use Sayers and the Armor School Library at Harmony Church. Sayers Memorial Library will temporarily take over Donovan’s current location at the old PX starting in February.
