River-crossing commuters take note: The Dillingham Street Bridge will be closed 1 p.m. to midnight Thursday.
The downtown bridge over the Chattahoochee River is closing as Phenix City prepares for its annual Christmas celebration, so travelers will have to use the Oglethorpe Bridge, the 13th Street Bridge or the J.R. Allen Parkway Bridge to the north.
The holiday event at the Phenix City Amphitheater will be 7:30 to 9 p.m. and end with a fireworks show.
Motorists can expect detours again Saturday morning for the annual Bi-City Christmas Parade.
Never miss a local story.
The 10 a.m. procession will start on Phenix City’s Colin Powell Parkway and go south down Broad Street, turn east to cross the 13th Street Bridge and then head south on Broadway in Columbus to Ninth Street.
