Columbus Police arrested a suspect Tuesday in a Friday shooting that sent a man to the hospital with a serious wound.
Christopher Lamont Matthews, 22, of 1155 Noble St., Columbus, was arrested at his residence in the shooting of Jonathan Sparks at 3104 11th Avenue, Columbus Police Lt. Lynn Joiner said Wednesday. Matthews is charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during commission of a crime, a handgun believed used in the shooting. Joiner said police developed information and obtained a warrant for Matthews' arrest. He said they have not recovered the gun.
"There was some kind of dispute at Sparks' residence. He was shot in the stomach and was seriously injured, spending several days in the Intensive Care Unit at The Medical Center," said Joiner.
Matthews is to appear in Columbus Recorder's Court at 2 p.m. today (Thursday).
