The Columbus Lions added three Phenix City natives to their roster this week, the team announced Friday.
Wide receivers Chris Jackson and Joel Babb and linebacker Ryan Babb all signed with the American Indoor Football team.
Jackson, a former Glenwood High player, spent part of last season playing for the Calgary (Alberta) Stampeders of the Canadian Football League. Jackson has spent time with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Pittsburgh Steelers and New Orleans Saints organizations, and played college football at Millsaps College.
Joel Babb most recently played for the af2’s Tennessee Valley Vipers, where he had more than 500 yards receiving and 13 touchdowns. In 2006, he played for the Odessa Roughnecks in the IFL. He was awarded the Paul “Bear” Bryant Award for best walk-on player during his time playing for the University of Alabama.
Ryan Babb played multiple positions for Troy. He saw the field in 2004-05 as a running back before being moved to linebacker in 2006.
The Lions open the season on March 14 at the Carolina Speed.
