On the second night of the Miss Georgia 2009 preliminary competition, the show moved quickly in the Bill Heard Theatre, slicing about 15 minutes off Wednesday’s show.
The Miss Georgia 2009 preliminary winners are Miss Fulton County Rhonda Allen, 23, in swimsuit and Miss Cobb County Emily Cook, 22, in evening wear. The talent winner is Miss Southern Hearthland Laura Margaret Stone, 21, who played Khachaturian’s “Toccata.”
Two Miss Georgia’s Outstanding Teen 2009 competitors won a preliminary event for the second night in a row.
Miss Capital City Colby Dee Coskery, 17, won fitness Thursday night after winning evening wear Wednesday. Miss Cobb County Brianna Godshalk, 16, won evening wear after winning talent Wednesday night. Thursday night’s talent winner was Miss Albany Sara Whetsell, who performed a character dance en pointe to “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” from the Disney film “Mary Poppins.”
It’s not easy putting a show like this together.
Janet Roddy and Barbara Motos have been working since the beginning of the year to produce the show.
They met with RiverCenter technical director John Camp two months ago for an initial production meeting.
Camp said the technicians began moving set pieces and lighting equipment into the theater last Wednesday in time for the first rehearsal on Saturday, after the contestants came to town.
