In an effort to serve soldiers returning to Fort Benning, the Muscogee County Tax Commissioner Lula Huff will hold a ribbon cutting to open a tag office in the Kelly Hill Recreation Center.
The 3 p.m. event today at building 9079 on Marne Road is aimed at supporting the 3rd Heavy Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division as some 3,000 troops return from Iraq. The first wave of about 200 soldiers started arriving Aug. 15.
Services offered at the temporary office will include updating vehicle registration before moving the vehicle from storage or assisting with a newly purchased vehicle. In addition to soldiers, the office will serve Muscogee County residents with motor vehicle needs. All soldiers should return by the end of October. The office is open three days a week from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday.
