I graduated from Columbus College, which is now Columbus State University.
There was a guy named Ray Lakes, a good-looking, supremely self-confident man. He was older than me.
Now, he's the director of alumni affairs. I really don't know if that's his title, but he's in charge of all the stuff alumni need to know.
The only time he calls me is to see if I can help him get the word out on some event the alumni are doing.
Sheesh. You'd think after 30 years, he could just call to say hello.
Today, he called to see if I'd let people know about Homecoming Week. And he'd really like all the old CC and the new CSU alumni to go to the events on Saturday, which includes men's and women's basketball, softball and baseball games.
There's also a kids' area with activities for them starting at 2 p.m. If these kids' activities are as good as what the Schwob School of Music did last week, then if you've got kids, take 'em.
Between the women's and men's basketball games, around 3:30 p.m., there will be an alumni reception saluting the Class of 1984 on their 25th graduation anniversary.
All activities take place in and around the Lumpkin Center on the CSU Main Campus and are free to CSU alumni.
Oh yeah, Ray is still way older than me.
