Is Christmas making you stressed? Me too.
I haven't finshed my shopping. I shipped a package to the wrong address. I didn't get any of my holiday baking done this weekend. Some of the lights on my Christmas tree are out. And I'm already worried about cooking Christmas dinner.
I must confess that I'm looking forward to Saturday.
I found some advice at the Psychology Today Web site about combating holiday stress. You can read it here, but I'll warn you that it could make you feel worse. I've already broken several of their rules including don't overspend, watch your diet and don't try to do too much. If you're one of those organized, put-together types you might want to read it just to see how perfect you really are.
I think I better deal with my stress with some old-fashioned retail therapy. While I'm dashing about tonight trying to finish shopping for my family, I'm going to buy myself a present. It won't be something I need (new guest towels) but something I want. Maybe a cute Christmas Day top. Maybe a pair of silly Christmas socks. Maybe a goofy Christmas-themed bracelet.
If you're feeling stressed, I suggest you do the same. Do something selfish tonight. Go see a movie. Buy yourself a treat. Go for a walk. Do something that makes you happy. Afterall, it's the season for joy.
