I can't remember when Becky Catrett began Columbus Cooks. It's go to be close to 10 years now. She was conducting cooking classes at Medley, a restaurant supply business that became Strategic Restaurant Supply.
Then she found her own place, across from Lewis Jones Food Market on 13th St. It's a strip mall that now has Loco's on one end and Two Sisters art gallery on the other end.
Later, she moved to the Bradley Park Drive area. A couple of years ago, she sold the business and moved to Montana.
The original location remained vacant. I'm not sure when Lewis Jones bought it. The kitchen is just as Becky left it. And it's a great kitchen.
Now, Lewis Jones is holding cooking classes there.
A few more spots are available for Thursday night's "School Night Suppers" cooking class. It begins at 6:30 p.m. The Village Kitchen of Lewis Jones is at 1328 13th St., Suite 3, across the street from Lewis Jones Food Market. Parking is in the back.
The class costs $39.
It features a quick-and-easy menu that kids will love, including Porcupine Meat Balls, Stuffed Pork Loin, Rice Pilaf Almandine and Chocolate Pecan-Crusted Ice Cream Ball.
