ABC announced the pairings of "celebrities" with their professional dance partners. I say "celebrities" because these are C-List, maybe D-List celebs. I keep waiting for Kathy Griffin to show up on "DWTS.
Here they are (along with my comments):
Belinda Carlisle of the Go-Gos and one of the worst singers of her generation with Jonathan Roberts.
David Alan Grier, one of the funny guys who became famous on "In Living Color" (my favorite skits were Grier as Antoine and Damon Wayans as Blaine) and Kym Johnson.
Singer Jewel with newcomer Dmitry Chaplin.
Shawn Johnson, the Olympic gymnast, and the youngest contestant to date, with Mark Ballas.
Lil' Kim with Derek Hough (don't think he'll repeat as a champ this season).
Gilles Marini (Samantha's memorable neighbor from the "Sex and the City" movie) and Cheryl Burke.
Rodeo star Ty Murray with newcomer Chelsie Hightower.
A real-life jackass, Steve-O with Lacey Schwimmer. I'm going out on a limb and say he'll be the first to be eliminated.
TV gossip reporter Nancy O'Dell with Tony Dovolani (who gets stuck with the older women).
Denise Richards (a former Bond girl and Charlie Sheen's ex) with Maksim Chmerkovskiy (the dancer I'd most like to tango with).
Former football great Lawrence Taylor with Edyta Sliwinska (who has the most perfect body).
Chuck Wicks, a country music singer, with Julianne Hough.
Computer whiz and one of the Apple founders, Steve Wozniak with Karina Smirnoff.
I guess the theme for this season is couples. Murray and Jewel are married; Wicks and Hough (Julianne, not Derek) are dating and Smirnoff and Chmerkovskiy are engaged.
I, for one, can't wait for the season to get started.
The first show is 8 p.m. March 9.
