Poison the Well is perhaps one of the premiere "scream-o" bands to come out of Warped Tour.
Things that could be argued about that last statement: 1) defining Poison the Well as a scream-o band, and 2) whether they in fact "came out of" Warped Tour.
Well - I've never been good at assigning a genre to bands and I saw them first at Warped Tour.
Anyway, they are definitely NOT playing Warped this year - they'll be at the Masquerade in Atlanta on July 15 on the 10 for $10 Tour. Get your tickets here. Right, so there are also 9 other bands playing (hence 10) and it only costs 10 bucks (hence $10). None of the other bands are worth mentioning (or, rather, I've never heard of them). Poison the Well's live show is definitely worth $10.
My favorite ever seeing them was at the Take Action Tour at the House of Blues in Chicago, Sept. 12, 2003. I loved Poison the Well, but the truth is I wanted to see Avenged Sevenfold - they didn't join the tour until after the Chicago date. Whatever.
PTW's new album, The Tropic Rot, hits shelves just a week before on July 7.
I'd like to say I'm going to buy it right when it comes out, but I've said that before with several things and I never follow through. Then I feel I've not only let myself down, but you too, all my loyal blog readers (if you do, in fact, exist). Plus there's the whole money issue.
So if you get it, let me know. And maybe burn me a copy.
