The top 6 performance show is under way on Fox. The contestants will perform Shania Twain songs. Twain is on hand to mentor.
Last week's "Idol Gives Back" raised over $45 million, Seacrest says.
Quick lesson about Shania. Did Seacrest really say "Come On Over" is the best-selling female album of all time? Yep, it's true...at least according to Wikipedia.
First up, it's Lee DeWyze, who first met Shania when he auditioned in Chicago. He's singing "You're Still the One." Shania says he should sing without the guitar for a bit.
Wisely, Lee takes Shania's advice and begins the song sans guitar. Yikes. That's a little flat. Lee gets into his groove fairly quickly, though, serving up a rock ballad that's pretty engaging. It kind of reminds me of David Cook. The vocals are a bit strained at points, but I have no major complaints.
Randy: "I think you did a pretty good job with it."
Ellen: "I think you did better than a pretty good job...All aboard the Shania Twain." Groan.
Kara: "Look how far you've come...It was a good job."
Simon: "I thought that was absolutely the perfect song."
