Last up, it's Allison Iraheta, singing "Papa Was a Rolling Stone." She fumbles while rehearsing with Smokey, but overall gets his thumbs-up.
After landing in last week's bottom three, Allison's on a mission to show off her pipes and this song's fast-paced, bluesy vocals clearly make her the top female of the night. It's an energetic performance with lots of big notes, even though Allison hasn't entirely curbed her over-singing. Even with this song's energy, she has some disconnect with the crowd, so I don't think she entirely established herself as a heavy-hitter.
Never miss a local story.
Randy: "That was blazing hot."
Kara: "You sing like you've been singing for 400 years."
Paula: "You kept your rocker edge."
Simon: "You are a survivor."
