Wayman Tisdale died today after fighting cancer for the past two years. He was just 44.
Never miss a local story.
Tisdale was a basketball player who loved music. Was he good?
I remember when he was on the 1984 Olympic basketball team. This was before the U.S. Olympic team became professional. This was back in the day when college players were on the team.
He told Steve Alford what a great coach Bobby Knight was. Knight coached the Olympic team that year. Alford said maybe but he didn't have to go back to Indiana to play for him. Tisdale played at the University of Oklalhoma.
Yes. He was a good basketball player and a fabulous jazz bassist.
He's going to be missed by millions of jazz lovers. And basketball fans as well.
