Even though the third season of the hit AMC original series "Mad Men" was just released on DVD, that might not be enough to sate your thirst for the show until it's fourth season premiere this summer.
Since it's one of the few shows I watched in real time (sort of, I had to wait for the fiance to be working or something because he hates the show), I have definitely had a hankering for more Draper drama.
Do "Mad Med"-inspired Barbies fill the void?
Well, not so much. But a little.
Am I going to buy them? No.
I just don't have room for stuff like that, but I imagine if I were a bit older and interested in buying things like that to display and then hope to sell in 20 years for a profit, sure.
But again, the husband-to-be isn't a fan, so I imagine fighting to display them would be more hassle than it's worth.
But they are pretty cool. And since I've been obsessed with the 50's/early 60's lately, I really dig the style of the dolls - total (appropriately enough) throwback.
Several commenters point out Joan's lack of curves, which I think is a valid point. Though I can understand that Barbie dolls, especially those made in the 50's and 60's, probably only have one body mold, it is sort of annoying.
Joan's voluptuous body is essential to her character (one of my favorite lines: "Is Joan a Marilyn or is Marilyn a Joan?", a reference, of course, to Marilyn Monroe).
Regardless, I think these dolls are pretty awesome. What do you think?
