Well, guys, I've jumped into the Twitterverse. Yeah, I know. How forward-thinking of me.
But I did it with the intention of promoting this blog - and with a bit of reluctance.
To even things out, I finally deleted my never-checked MySpace page.
Despite my participation is various social networking sites over the years (Open Diary, Friendster, MySpace, Facebook and, now, Twitter), I've become less a fan of the near necessity of such sites.
Granted, the purpose has changed.
When I was a dark and brooding high schooler I used Open Diary to vent about stupid crap, whine about even stupider crap and broadcast my crappy poetry about the stupidest crap.
It's no longer self-promotion and over-sharing to get your peers to tell you how cool you are - it's self-promotion to connect with potential career contacts, possible future employers.
So, to further any potential future I might have and to "get my name out there," I'm a tweeter.
It's a platform not to let you know what I'm up to every 10 minutes (though I'm sure that'll sneak in every now and then), but to display my body of work.
Crappy poetry excluded.
