What with hunting season starting up on Saturday I was all but convinced that I wouldn't see my boyfriend until December - but we were lucky enough to get a dinner-and-a-movie night in this weekend.
We saw "9," the post-apocalyptic Tim Burton flick about nine beings that a scientist created fearing that the human race would be wiped out.
It's a little heavy for an animated movie, and the PG-13 rating definitely indicates it's not for kids. Despite this, there were quite a few children in the theater.
I enjoyed the movie, though I didn't find anything particularly unique about the storyline. The bf and I both agreed that this is just another person's take on something that's been none many times before - a dark and disturbing look into our obsession with technology and whether these advancements enhance our society or will ultimately lead to it's demise.
Another topic the movie examined was whether it's better to fight the enemy or run and hide. Again, nothing new, but it's played out interestingly.
Overall - it was good, if a little preachy.
I have also started watching the second season of "Mad Men." Three episodes in and I'm liking where it's going. I have a strange relationship with this series. I like it, but I don't really have any strong feelings about the characters. Even after an entire season, many of them aren't developed.
Coming up: I've got the first season of "True Blood" waiting to be watched!
