Former contestants might be lamenting Paula Abdul's "American Idol" departure, but not everyone's disappointed.
A Chicago Sun-Times gossip columnist reports some "Idol" staffers toasted Abdul's departure with champagne. An anonymous source explains:
"We are so tired of Paula’s tantrums, her constant diva behavior. ... She took the concept of ‘difficult’ to a whole new level. Thank God she’s gone."
Meanwhile, it seems "Idol" execs are set on the four-judge format.
I think a Randy-Kara-Simon panel is fine, but sources say Peter Rice, chairman for entertainment at Fox Broadcasting, is searching for Paula's replacement.
In the meantime, guest judges will fill the fourth seat. Victoria Beckham (Posh Spice) and Katy Perry are already confirmed.
Hmm. I can't wait to blog Season 9!
