First, I've confirmed AI airs Wednesday and Thursday next week. It's motown week and Ruben Studdard will perform on the results show.
Alexis Grace, the most recent castoff, is making the press rounds. In interviews today, we learned she'd contemplated doing a Carrie Underwood song, and wishes she could have performed something other than "Jolene" when the judges decided whether to use their save on her.
Never miss a local story.
After re-watching Alexis' performance today, I still don't think she deserved to go home. I think overall, she was the strongest female vocalist of the pack -- and well ahead of many of the male singers. But voters this season are clearly rooting for the guys.
Had it not risked messing up the tour setup, judges probably would have used their save on her. They were also probably leery of using it so early in the season.
When French Idol, "Nouvelle Star," experimented with the judges' save, the panel used it in the very first week. That singer got the boot two weeks later.
