I'm pretty confident in my predictions for tonight's elimination: Andrew Garcia and Katie Stevens.
Andrew has more than worn out his welcome on the "American Idol" stage. His rendition of "Hound Dog" was cheesy and forgettable. His only memorable performance at this stage of the competition was "Forever" on R&B week.
Honestly, I don't think Katie Stevens was any worse than Aaron Kelly or Siobhan Magnus Tuesday night. But she's offered less personality on stage and likely has a less solid fan base.
Thanks for the spirited debate last night. And by "spirited debate," I mean two comments. I understand the Tim Urban critics, but I'm not budging on my support this week. I like Tim because he knows his audience and chooses songs wisely. He's also using the "Idol" process as a way to get progressively better and fine-tune his identity as an artist.
This week, I prefer Tim over Siobhan Magnus, who in my opinion has really buckled under the pressure in recent weeks.
I agree with the judges' assessment that part of this process is demonstrating what kind of records you want to sell. Siobhan's claim that "oh, I just want to sing" just isn't a realistic attitude if you want to excel in the mainstream recording world.
That said...would I be completely shocked if Tim got booted tonight? No.
And just to set things straight, I don't have the authority to remove reader comments from this blog. If that happens, you need to blame a higher power.
