This morning, I read a story in our newspaper about eight airmen testing positive for the H1N1 virus.
Because my nephew Scott is in the Air Force, I read the story. As I read it, I became more and more concerned.
The eight airmen who tested positive were among the 14 who came down with symptoms. They are stationed at Moody Air Base in Valdosta. That's where Scott is.
And then it said this group was on TDY at Pope Air Base in North Carolina and at Hunter Army Air Field near Savannah. Scott was in this group. They got back to Valdosta on Thursday.
He didn't answer an IM I sent him, so I called. He said he was fine, though his roommate on the trip was one of the ones who came down sick.
When I passed the phone on to my mother, he had to reassure her that he was fine. She asked if he was eating! Scott is 24-years-old. I think he can feed himself.
Still, he's that chubby-cheeked baby boy ...
Of course, we're all concerned! I think we will always be. I mean, wait until he goes to Iraq in September. We'll all worry about him.
