Ever since Paula Abdul announced she's quitting American Idol, there's been a good share of fans who believe the original three-judge panel will somehow be reunited at the start of Season 9.
The optimism was endearing at first, but now it's getting kind of annoying.
Be warned, Paula believers: You're entering a popular culture realm occupied by the people who remain convinced "Veronica Mars" will come back on the air.
It's not entirely your fault. Entertainment Web sites, filled with articles rich in "sources close to the situation," have perpetuated the belief as well.
But hopefully this LA Times piece willl finally put it to rest.
In the article, Paula Abdul's manager says that since her announcement, "there have been no discussions whatsoever about 'Idol.'"
The story also debunks the "how much do we need Paula?" Fox focus groups I mentioned yesterday.
At this point, it doesn't make sense for Paula to return to AI. It would just make her look too weak. She obviously has other offers, and I'd guess she could easily just devote a year to guest spots.
