There are four new movies hitting the Columbus theaters tonight:
The much-talked about (because of it's name) "Hot Tub Time Machine" stars John Cusack as a middle-aged man who gets dumped and wonders where his life went wrong. He and his buddies go for a weekend of reminiscing, which includes a dip in a hot tub. Some weird glitch causes them to be taken back to the 1980's, when the guys were in their prime.
This looks kind of funny, but I'm not so sure it's something I'd have to go see in the theater.
"How to Train Your Dragon" looks really cute - and it's in 3D, so it might be worth forking over the extra bucks to see it in the theater. Hiccup, a little Viking who lacks "Vikingness," traps and befriends one of the dragons attacking his village.
"The Ghost Writer" actually really intrigues me. It's about a ghost writer (Ewan McGregor) who starts working for a British Prime Minister (Pierce Brosnan - there's talk the PM is based on Tony Blair) and then all this crazy stuff starts going on around him. The catch is that the film was directed by Roman Polanski, whose personal life has overshadowed his work. He gives me the heebie-jeebies and on matters of principle, I can't allow myself to support his film.
The Columbus Film Society's Screening Room is showing "A Town Called Panic" this week. It's an animated French film and that's about all I know about it. Sounds kind of cute though.
