I just watched a very disturbing report on ABC's "Nightline" on the problem of runaway Toyotas.
More than 2,000 cases have been found where a Toyota or Lexus has suddenly accelerates. Deaths have happened as well.
At first, Toyota blamed floor mats getting stuck under the accelerator. So they issued a recall.
But the problem continued and more people died.
The report was inconclusive about what the automaker is going to do about the problem.
So reporter Brian Ross asked an auto expert from Consumer Reports what to do if that happens to you.
He said the step on the brake hard, put your car in neutral and the car will stop. Then turn off the engine. Do not pump the brake.
That's good to know.
And yes, I drive a Toyota. As does my sister Patty. I'm going to tell her about this tomorrow.
