OK, so that delay between postings was a little longer than expected. I got in the designated media area, ready to interview those who had gotten the golden ticket to the next round.
If you get the OK, you have to fill out some paperwork...basically signing your life away to Fox. In all, the entire process took a little longer than an hour. And that was just for the first group of accepted singers.
Seems like around 10,000 people showed up today. So far, I've seen about 20 singers advancing. Remember, though, it's still relatively early. Most of us estimate about 200 people will advance today, but that's pure speculation. AI says the show doesn't use quotas.
Among the singers advancing? Guitar Girl, the one I interviewed earlier today.I knew I recognized her from somewhere! Turns out she was on the last season of "America's Got Talent." Watch a clip here.
I've said this before, but I'm really amazed by how so many reality TV hopefuls are completely comfortable dealing with the media. Five years ago reality stars were people pulled from minimum jobs in the middle of nowhere.
Today, when I was hanging out with the contestants who advanced, one guy literally came up to me and asked straight up, "Do you want to interview me?"
