After being renewed for a second season (before the show even premiered), the star of Starz's hit show "Spartacus: Blood and Sand," Andy Whitfield, was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
Instead of axing the second season, they are postponing it and creating a six-episode prequel to mine the gap. The prequel will focus on the House of Batiatus leading up to Spartacus' capture.
That's got to be good news for Lucy Lawless and John Hannah, because judging by the way season one ended, they probably won't be working much in season two.
My fiance will be happy that Lucy Lawless and her boobies will still be around.
The not-yet-named prequel is scheduled to begin in January.
