I had lunch with Sid Kaminsky, a friend who goes way back in time with me. I bet I met him when I first started working here at the Ledger-Enquirer 34 years ago. He owned a country radio station at the them. A very successful one.
After living in California for almost 10 years, he and his beautiful wife, Judy, moved back to Columbus. He works at the Columbus Convention & Visitors Bureau.
While we were eating, he asked if I'd heard of the new drive-in out in Seale. I said I had not.
I just got an e-mail from him with the Web site, www.myfieldofscreens.com
Sid said a group of Smiths Station High School graduates began the venture.
This weekend's movies are "Final Destination" and "The Texas Chainsaw Masscre."

So where is it exactly? 9316 Lee Road 179. It sounds like I'd be lost.
Here are the directions from Columbus and Phenix City from U.S. 80:
From the intersection of U.S. 431/U.S. 280 and Crawford Road/U.S. 80, turn onto Hwy. 80 headed away from Columbus. A barbecue place will be on your right and a car wash will be on the left.
Continue on Hwy 80 for 8.9 miles. You'll go through Ladonia and go into Crawford.
Turn right on Bleeker Road, which is the road just after a two-story gas station on the righ and a white church on the left.
Don't you love these directions? God forbid a storm knocks something down!
Continue on Bleeker Road (which turns into Lee Road 179) for 2.9 miles.
Field of Screens will be on the right.
You can bring in all the popcorn, candy and soft drinks you want from home, but there will be a limited selection of snacks and drinks.

I know I'm going to check this out soon. Maybe I can relive my youth, watching movies in Sierra Vista, Ariz.
