In the literary world, Kurt Vonnegut is something of a demigod.
He is one of the few places where my ultra-conservative fiance and former hippie father overlap.
Ideological differences aside, Vonnegut was a great writer with a true and unique voice. I enjoy his writing, but must admit I've only read one of his books: "Dead Eye Dick." (You thought I was gonna say "Slaughter-House Five" didn't you?)
In November, the Kurt Vonnegut Memorial Library will open in Indianapolis. It will be part museum, part library and will include many mementos from his life and career, including first editions of his novels and rejection letters from before he got his big break.
It sounds like it should be a pretty impresive place. With lots of family in Illinois, I'll be sure to make it there someday ... maybe even after my wedding in November.
