I'm a bit embarrassed to admit that I've only seen three of the 10 films nominated for Best Picture in this year's Oscar race. "The Kids Are All Right," "Black Swan" and "The King's Speech" are the only films that made my viewing list. I have a lot of movie-watching to do before Feb. 27. Get more information about who was nominated here.
Having limited knowledge of this year's films won't stop me from being excited about Academy Awards season, though. I love a good party, and the Oscars provide plenty of reasons to celebrate.
If you haven't seen many of this year's films, organize an outing with some friends to see the films still at theaters. Still playing at Carmike are "The Fighter," "The King's Speech," "Black Swan" and "True Grit." You can also host a pre-Oscar screening party at home. Available on DVD are "Social Network," "Inception," "Toy Story 3," "Winter's Bone" and "The Kids Are All Right."
If you're hosting a party at home, entertaining expert and cookbook author Katie Lee has some Oscar-worthy recipes that you might want to use. Here's one for punch.
