I met with Becky Becker this afternoon. She's the thoughtful, creative and very talented director who teaches at Columbus State University's department of theater. She's directing "Eurydice," which opens next week.
Every year, the theater department puts either a Shakespeare play or another theater classic on the schedule.
This year is the Greek classic, though it's a modern take, written by Sarah Ruhl.
I think i's going to be really good.
The department has a huge freshman class this year, so you'll see a lot of new faces on the stage.
Becky said the seniors last year were so good that she thought the department might have some problems putting actors on the stage. But after teaching one semester, she knew that was not something she had to worry about.
Steven Graver, the wonderfully taltned costumer, who is also a theater professor, said the department may have to limit the number of student it accepts every year.
I guess the department has made such an improvement that all these high school seniors want to come here. That's a good problem to have, but ...
