I'm still in a bit of shock that I didn't know Chuck Palahniuk's book "Snuff" is being made into a movie. Chuck Palahniuk news is usually the type I seek out, so the fact that I'm only learning of the production now that they're announcing casting took me by surprise.
But boy am I happy. First of all, "Snuff" is the last book Chuck's written that I've really liked. "Pygmy" and "Tell-All" remain half-read and ill-received (by me anyway).
However, "Snuff" is also one of the last novels I'd expect to be adapted for film (especially with all the rumors swirling around "Invisible Monsters" and "Survivor" for the last 100 years). The storyline is thus: An aging porn star, Cassie Wright, wants to leave her career with a bang — 600 of them, to be exact. She's going to be filmed having relations with 600 men, a record in the adult film industry.
The story follows three of the men, who all have ties to Cassie, and that's the real story.
The casting so far is Daryl Hannah as Cassie (great), Tom Sizemore as Mr. 600 and Thora Birch as Cassie's assistant Sheila (also great).
The script was co-written by Fabien Martorell (also directing) and Karina Wilson.
I can't wait to see how this turns out.
In other Chuck news, his latest book "Damned" is set to be released Oct. 18.
