My mother just got off the phone with my cousin Ken. He has a computer, but doesn't have a webcam, so we can't use SKYPE.
He said he was running an errand and had just parked his car when the first tremor hit. He said it was scary, watching the road undulate.
Ken got home OK. His son, who works as a computer tech in the middle of Tokyo, spent the night in his office.
His daughter drove to work. It normally takes about an hour to get to work. It took her six hours to get home because the major roads were closed and she had to take side streets.
Never miss a local story.
Ken's older sister, Noriko, lives in Saitama, which is about two hours away by train. She is fine, as is her family.
My Uncle Hide is not online right now, but I'm sure he's OK. We would have heard something by now.
So I think everyone's accounted for now.
