Now that we know everyone is OK, the big worry is the nuclear plant.
We haven't spoken to any of our relatives today, but OMG! The news about the explosion at the Fukushima nuclear power plant is not good.
The more I listen to the talking heads on TV, the more concerned I get. I was talking to my engineer sister and she said I probably know more about what's going on than she does. That really doesn't make me feel better.
The tsunami was devastating, but I'm worried about what's going to happen next. If you watched the videos, you know that villages and cities were washed away. But so was a lot of farmland. That is going to be the real catastrophe. If anything was planted, then those crops are gone. And it's going to take a lot to get the land ready to farm again. And who knows where all the farmers are. Did they get to safety? Or were they swept away?
Never miss a local story.
I guess it's just a matter of time that we'll find about the nuclear power plants, and if I know anything about the Japanese people, they are resilient and can do anything. After all, they are the only ones who have rebuilt after an atomic bombing. And recovered brilliantly.
All we can do now is hope and pray that everything goes well and the plants remain intact.
