I spent some time a few weeks ago hanging around U.S. Army Rangers — being married to one, this isn't a breed I'm unfamiliar with. However, in this instance, I was in their territory, trying not to interfere too much as they trained for the 28th annual David E. Grange Jr. Best Ranger Competition.
It's kind of a big deal.
And I was talking to them about health.
But they were good-natured and humble, answering my questions about visiting a nutritionist and how many calories they have to consume in order to run sometimes in excess of 20 miles a day, three days a week ... carrying 60-pound ruck sacks. And it was just another day to them.
You can read more about that here.
And you can go support the guys this weekend. BRC kicks off on Friday morning, but the spectator-friendly action is on Saturday. It's a good time and gives you a completely different perspective of what these guys are capable of — and a taste of what they do to protect our freedoms while overseas.
