Kings Pond Recreation Area is open for primitive camping year-round. Even better—it is completely free! The camping area is equipped with picnic tables, campfire rings, grills, trash cans, vault restrooms and lantern holders. Located near Harmony Church, if you are looking for a peaceful weekend getaway, Kings Pond is just far enough from home.
It is the site of one of Outdoor Recreation’s most popular activities, the Kings Pond Campout. This event is scheduled in the spring and fall and includes games, canoeing, kayaking, arts and crafts and s’mores. The campout is free to military ID cardholders and DoD civilian employees. If you do not own camping equipment, you can rent all the necessary gear at Outdoor Recreation & Equipment Resource Center. Do not forget your sleeping bags for the November campout as it gets quite chilly at night.
The pond is a favorite fishing spot of many retirees. Contrary to popular belief, there are plenty of bass, bluegill, catfish, crappie and sunfish. Those of you who cannot find them just are not looking in the right place! Kids 15 and younger do not need a Georgia fishing license or a Fort Benning fishing permit to fish on post.
