In case you missed it, Auburn University grads Caitlin King and Brittany Fletcher advanced to another episode of "The Amazing Race" on Sunday. The women placed seventh out of the nine teams that remain on the CBS show. Will they secure a spot as the most memorable reality TV contestants from Auburn University? We'll have to wait and see.
The War Eagle Reader notes that Caitlin and Brittany have achieved something remarkable: making it past the first "Amazing Race" episode of the season. The site points to Auburn grad Preston McCamy, who was eliminated with his girlfriend on the show's season 14 premiere. Ouch.
The War Eagle Reader suggests that's the extent of the Auburn/"Amazing Race" connection, but I did a little research and learned Auburn alum Greg Smith appeared on season 7 with his brother, Brian. They placed sixth.
I've only lived in this area for six years, so I hardly boast encyclopedic knowledge of Auburn's reality TV connections.
That said, I think people with Auburn ties have fared best on "American Idol." Case in point: fifth-season winner Taylor Hicks. And let's not forget Auburn's Paul McDonald, who placed eighth on season 10.
Speaking of singing, the most recent "Glee Project" season boasted Auburn grad Shanna Henderson, who was totally robbed by finishing sixth.
In the "Survivor" world, we have Auburn alum Krista Klumpp, who placed 15th on "Survivor: Redemption Island." One website says Colton Cumbie attended Auburn, but I haven't been able to back it up.
That's all, folks? Hardly.
It's just the connections I can brainstorm in 20 minutes. Tell me what I'm forgetting. Honestly, I'm a little surprised by the lack of an Auburn presence in the "Bachelor"/"Bachelorette" franchise. Am I overlooking someone?
