The children's show is based on the popular 1992 book of the same name by Susan Meddaugh. An animated children's television series is also based on the book about a talking dog named Martha, who is owned by 10-year-old Helen Lorraine. One day, Martha eats alphabet soup and the letters go to her brain instead of her stomach. Martha and her vocabulary lessons arrive Friday at the RiverCenter.
