In my years of covering the arts in Columbus, I have been asked countless times by people what they should wear to see a play at the Springer Opera House, a concert by the Columbus Symphony Orchestra, a visit to the Columbus Museum or see something at RiverCenter for the Performing Arts.
I always say wear whatever you're comfortable in. If it's jeans and a T-shirt and you don't mind being looked at, then that's what you should wear. If it's a sequined dress and you don't mind being looked at, then that's what you should wear.
I know what casual clothing is. And I know what dressy or formal means.
But what the heck is business casual? Does anyone really know?
Never miss a local story.
We had dinner at Epic Restaurant Saturday night. The website says business casual.
I wore a dress, my sister Patty wore a skirt and blouse, my mother and two sisters, Nancy and Dorothy, wore black slacks and blouses. My brother-in-law, John, wore a nice sweater and nice slacks. Our friend, Masafusa Yonekawa wore a suit.
Other diners wore a variety of clothing. One guy actually wore a sweatshirt and jeans.
So will someone please tell me what business casual means.
