The always popular "Margaret Carney Tea & Music Series" will be returning for its seventh season to the Columbus Public Library on Friday afternoons in May. This year’s theme will be “A Tune A Tale and a Cup of Tea” and will feature music with strong narrative imagery and tea grown at the Charleston Tea Plantation in South Carolina.
These free programs, sponsored by the Muscogee County Friends of Libraries, will be held on Friday May 10th, 17th, 24th and 31st at 3 p.m. All performances will take in the Auditorium of the Columbus Public Library, 3000 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia. Patrons are encouraged to bring their favorite teacup.
The hallmark of the “Tea and Music” concerts are their casual charm – it is a afternoon featuring an (often humorous) lecture/performance, joined with delicious tea and refreshments served by volunteers from the Muscogee County Friends of Libraries.
This year’s concerts will feature several faculty and students from the Schwob School of Music at Columbus State University. Returning is Dr. Kristen Hansen, who has coordinated and performed in each of the previous six series. Joining her this year are Oboe faculty Dr. Susan Hatch Tomkiewicz, Piano faculty Ms. Yien Wang and graduate student Ms. Ksenia Kurenysheva.
