I spent 30 minutes trying to figure out if this weekend's "supermoon" is Saturday (June 22) or Sunday (June 23). I saw plenty of people posting photos of a gigantic moon Saturday night.
The outcome? If you forgot to look at the sky Saturday, it's OK. ChicagoNow explains that "the moon will appear just-about full on June 22, and the full moon on June 23 will be a 'supermoon!'"
So check things out Sunday. And if that doesn't work, you can always watch a live supermoon webcast, scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. ET Sunday.
During a supermoon, "the moon appears up to 14 percent bigger and 30 percent brighter than usual," according to The Huffington Post.
Never miss a local story.
Don't forget to send me your supermoon photos. You can email them to firstname.lastname@example.org for possible inclusion on our website and/or Facebook page.
Need some inspiration? I created a supermoon playlist that's ideal for a night of contemplation under the sky.
"Blue Moon" -- I prefer the Billie Holiday version
"Vincent (Starry Starry Night)"
"Lucky Star" -- yes, I included a Madonna song...judge accordingly
"Stars" (Grace Potter & the Nocturnals song)
"Bad Moon Rising"
"Fly Me to the Moon"
"Shepherd Moons" -- yep, that's an Enya song
"Sunglasses at Night"
Note: I limited the playlist to my favorite tracks. Here's a list of 40 songs about the moon.
