Get ready to run a 5K

For those who don't have any running experience but are interested in training for a 5K, The Columbus Road Runners offers Couch to 5K programs. The next one begins on Aug. 27. During the 9-week program, participants build up from running/walking intervals to completing a 5K (3.1 miles). The group will meet Tuesday and Thursday nights at 6:30 p.m. at Cooper Creek Park. Columbus Road Runners offers this training program free of charge for everyone. The only cost associated will be the entry into the goal race, which is the Big Dog Howl 5K on Oct. 26. It's not mandatory to participate, but it's strongly encouraged.
