There will be two Georgia-based team in the Professional Indoor Football League for the 2014 season after all.
After the Albany Panthers lost their lease at the Albany Civic Center last month, league officials wanted to find a replacement that would cause the least disruption to the upcoming season.
On Wednesday, the PIFL announced the formation of the Georgia Fire, which will be based out of Rome, Ga.
The Fire will have the same schedule the Panthers would have played, including two trips to Columbus to play the Lions in a three-week span in April on the 12th and 26th.
Never miss a local story.
Georgia will also compete in the PIFL's American Conference with the Lions, Alabama Hammers and Nashville Venom.
The Fire also assumes the roster from the Panthers.
