Adlai Stevenson Dies In London
Adlai E. Stevenson collapsed in the street outside the U.S. Embassy in London today and died in St. George's Hospital. He was 65.
The U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations was on a short visit to London and had just left the Embassy on Grosvenor Square when he was stricken. He had kept up a busy schedule here, visiting friends and political contacts.
Secretary of Defense Robert S. McNamara said today new U.S. troops increases in South Viet Nam would make it necessary to consider calling up military reserves, extending tours of duty and enlarging draft calls.
